About book Four Mile (2000)

Foster and his mom, Linda, live on an old farm named Fourmile. They are moving into Montgomery, but Foster doesn't want to go. He is attached to the house, and misses his father. Suddenly, Gary arrives at the farm, and brings Foster out of his depression. Joe, Foster's dog, was my favorite character, and Dax (Linda's evil boyfriend) was my least favorite. Of course, the dog died because Dax poisoned him. I hate it when animals die in books. I love it when Foster takes a stand against Dax, like when he threw a brick into his windshield. The book made sense and I loved the way it ended. Student Review: Fourmile by Watt Key is a good book. The book really shows that hard work will get you places, as the farm went from a dump to a great place to sell to make some money. Also, it shows that things can go bad very quick, and all that you worked for can disappear in a matter of minutes, as the barn they worked on burned down. The book has a good overall theme, displaying that change is not always a good thing, but sometimes is just has to happen. I felt like the book ended too abruptly, the book was ended in just a chapter or two. At parts the book was very repetitive, but overall it was ok.
