I didn't enjoy this book as much as the others, even though there was less of the sex scenes as the others which was refreshing.I found it frustrating that Jake wouldn't trust in Alex to tell him the truth about the mating and the threats. I know there wouldn't have been a story otherwise, but there were so many times that he should have told him. And if Alex really was his best friend, then he would have dealt with who Jake was mated to. You'll have to read it to find out what Alex's reaction was. Same goes with Jake telling Rick the truth.I have to admit that I skim read some parts as it really was slow at some points. I read book two first and then went back and read book 1, 3 and then this one, but I am glad it was book 2 I read first and not this one, because I don't think I would have been drawn into the series as much as I was. In other words this wasn't the best one of the lot of them.I love Toni Griffin as an author though. I have read one of her other books, Liam (The Atherton Pack, Book 1) and can't wait to see what else she writes. It helps too that she is an Aussie, ;) being an Aussie myself, I can relate to the places she describes. The only way to know whether a book is good or not, is to read it yourself. :) I really like this series. It's nice and easy and I the characters. This is the youngest Hollands story - Patrick realises at the age of 16 that his eldest brothers best friend is his mate. He is overjoyed but that joy soon evaporates when he mate tells him they cant be together. Jake is also overjoyed at finding his mate but when he tells his father he feels like his world is destroyed. His father warns him that if he takes a male mate he will harm Patrick. Jake is left with no other choice than to walk away from his mate to ensure his safety. For 10 years the two men circle each other neither able to take another lover. Jakes father continues with his threats until a breaking point is reached and the two men can no longer deny each other. All that remains is the ability to forgive each other and stop Jakes father making good on his threats.
