“Flyte”starts a year after the events of “Magyk”One day at the wizard tower septimus was cleaning the library and a spider bit him but it wasn’t a normal spider it was a “Darke Spider” Which is supposed to make you nervous but marcia had bigger problem she had noticed that about a year ago a shadow started following her and annoyed her everyday while she was working on a “Shadow Safe” to get rid of the shadow that was spying on her,One day a rider with a “Darke” horse came and asked for jenna and by the time septimus and jenna came by they found out it was “Simon Heap” their oldest brother septimus noticed there was something strange about him but he didn’t know he thought simon might be like that (since that was the first time he had seen him) he offered jenna a ride on his horse “Thunder” and she didn’t want to but he made her do it once she was up on the tall horse they started riding fast like if simon was a maniac and then he noticed that he wasn’t giving a ride to jenna but stealing the soon to be “Queen” he went to tell marcia but she didn’t believe it and wasn’t gonna help him rescue jenna she thought she was only being paranoid because of the spider then septimus went to seek help for the journey ahead.I was really excited to see what was gonna happen when the first book ended because it had a bunch of loose ends ahead and the author knew about it.The book its catching up for what it missed in the first one because there was the story of “Nicko,Jenna,Septimus and Simon”. The only bad thing is that there is some characters there just to fill a hole and there is constant switch of view which is sometimes is good and sometimes it just anti-climatic for the story itself.I kinda wished they gave the side characters a little more personality like “Wolf Boy” or “Stanley” which only appeared once or twice for the sake of the plot.The second book is really getting into what are the abilities of the “Darke Magyk”and how its different compared to “Magyk” itself.The main plot of the book was kind of weird i didn’t expect Simon to be like that but it sets the theme of the story.This was an amazing book with a few problems on it but it doesn’t ruin the “Magyk” of this book in general.
Another enjoyable book by Sage. I wasn't quite as enthralled with the second book as I was the first (some of the inventiveness and cuteness seemed lacking just a smidgen) but it was still a good story.I felt it continued the story and plot well, holding fairly true to the characters and flavor of the first book.I only have a few... not complaints... but rather things that weren't quite up to 5 stars:I'm still awaiting further explanation of the magical world (though as it's only book two, I'm not too concerned). I think it's all there, it's just not entirely explained and I think it would be very interesting to learn.A few times I feel Sage has her characters act too young for the rest of their actions. Yes, the cast mainly consists of people under the age of 20, so it makes sense that they would act "young," but sometimes it seems a little out of place (but, not often enough for it to be distracting overall).Finally, (and yes this is super picky!), a few character traits were a tad annoying: i.e. how unbelieving the Heaps are to one of their son's actions, or how it appears that telling someone what to do firmly is all it takes to be a leader. I'm pretty sure that those weren't the intentions Sage had in mind - I'm guessing that she was trying to show more the undying love of a parent, and that leadership comes with maturity not age, but I'm not sure that it came off quite as well as some of her other messages. I was very pleased by some of the new characters and the growth of some of the others. I give Sage credit for not manipulating a plot to get her where she needs to go. She seems to have things well set up and a good idea of where the overall story needs to lead. The book isn't very predictable (happily) in most cases, and I was very curious to see how the story unfolded and it kept my interest to the end. I'm anxious to read the third book, so that's always a good sign.:)It's another nice fantasy story and it doesn't feel like a rehash of many of the other ones. I've finally broken my streak...I actually liked this (book 2 in the series) the best. This has absolutely never happened to me before! I'm going to have to review some of my other long held beliefs...Anyway, this is an action packed book which continues the saga of Septimus Heap, long thought of only has Boy 412, but now the apprentice to the most powerful of all wizards. His newfound status, however, has some jealous, including his eldest brother, Simon Heap. Simon aligns himself with the dark wizards and begins to reek havoc on Septimus' life and that of their adopted sister, Jenna, the Princess.

I enjoyed this book just as much as the first one, maybe even a little bit more. I loved getting to know all the characters better, and being able to learn more about Angie's world. I, once again, fell in love with her writing, and I particularly noticed, and loved, how she gave everything a "voice". Even the stove and coffeepot in the ExtraOrdinary Wizard's kitchen had minds of their own. It was very fun to read those passages in particular.The only thing that could be a negative was that this book did feel a little filler-y to me. Nothing really seemed to happen plot-wise. It was all more character growth, which I'm totally fine with actually. I think it may be why I prefer this book, slightly, to Magyk.But yeah, loving this series so far, and I can't wait to start reading the next one!

I like Flyte.Flyte is a fun sequel. The emphasis on the importance of family is what I liked the most in here. See, Septimus' oldest brother Simon is the villain. Even if Simon tried to "indirectly" kill him a few times, Septimus chose to spare his brother's life in the end. Now, isn't that nice?I got a lot of laughs while listening to the audiobook. Nico's the most entertaining character! Besides Septimus, his rants and banters are the most enjoyable. And the spells are delightful, especially the chocolate spell! I would love to get my hands on that.Marcia was the typical adult character who does not listen to the complaints and accusations of a child, and in this case, Septimus (who is her apprentice). Sometimes, you just want to knock these kind of adults out, yes? :DI found a loose end with the Dragon Boat, but overall Flyte made me want to continue reading this series. It was simply hilarious and just downright entertaining for fantasy readers like me.
