FlushtIn this novel the main character, Noah, is in the bad situation of having his dad in jail. His dad is in jail because he sunk the Coral Queen, a gambling boat, because the boat was dumping it’s sewage into the basin. His dad retaliated very badly and sunk it. Thus being why he’s in jail.t Shortly after Noah’s father went to jail the Coral Queen was built back up, and continued to spill the sewage into the basin. Noah’s father snuck out of jail and found out that the boat continued to spill the sewage. Noah and his sister, Abbey, saw that his father was very mad about it, so they came up with an operation to take down the boat. It worked for a little while, until they built it back up. The owner’s son ironically burned down the boat on the 3rd opening night, so he helped with the operation.Main CharactersNoah is an adventurous, open-minded boy. He likes to help out his family whenever he has the chance. He is great in bad situations and in making his little sister calm down in those bad situations. Shelly is a huge part of the book. She is one of the most important part of the operation to take down the Coral Queen. She is very helpful and very fun to hang out with.Abbey is Noah’s sister, and she’s just as adventurous and open-minded as Noah. She always wants to go along with the dangerous plans with Noah even though it’s going to get her into trouble. Noah’s father is one crazy due with a big interest for nature. He even goes to jail just to keep nature safe.SettingThis book takes place in West Keys, Florida. They go to the beach a lot and watch the turtles and fish jump around. They have been going there since Noah has been a little kid, this is why that his dad was so protective of the beach when the boat was spilling sewage into the basin.The Conflict The conflict in this story is when the Coral Queen pours it’s sewage into the basin. The sewage that is poured into the basin poisons the water and kills the water life. Another conflict is that Noah’s dad was in jail. He was in jail because he sunk the gambling boat.Resolution of ConflicttThe resolution of the Sewage spill conflict was Noah’s, Abbey’s, and Shelly’s plan to shut down the Coral Queen for good. When there plan didn’t work, the owner’s son of the Coral Queen burnt it down by accident by trying to smoke a cigar. When he tried to light it he lit some fireworks and blew up the boat. The resolution of Noah’s father being in jail was for him to sneak out.My Opinion of the BooktI love this book. It’s a good book to show you how to work as a team. It also shows how to love you family unconditionally. It’s a good book to bring your family together.My Recommendation tI would recommend this book to anyone how loves to work as a team. I would also recommend this book who loves to be with their family. I would give this book a two thumbs up. On a scale of 1-10 I would give the book an 8.
Are you looking for an adventurous book? If so, you should read the book called "Flush" written by Carl Hiaasen. This book is very appealing to many people. The plot really keeps you guessing how the characters are going to solve the problem. Whoever really cares about the environment should read this because the plot is based off people who are trying to save the environment. If you don’t like long books this one is short and the story is amazing."Flush" contains the following characters: Noah, Abbey, Donna, Noah and Abbey’s father, Grandpa Bobby, Dusty Muleman, Jasper Jr., Bull, Shelly, and Lice Peeking. In Florida, during the 1990’s, Noah and Abbey’s father crashed into Dusty Muleman’s boat because he thinks that Dusty’s boat is polluting the water. Because of that big commotion, Noah’s dad goes to jail and that turns out to be Noah’s main internal conflict. Jasper Jr., Dusty Muleman’s son, doesn’t like Noah because of what Noah’s dad did. That causes Jasper Jr. to physically beat up Noah. This beating-up is Noah’s external conflict. Ever since the father has been in jail, Abbey and Noah try to prove their dad’s point which is Dusty’s boat is polluting the water. This book has a humorous tone which is written in first point of view. After reading this book, I learned that you should never give up.Not every book is for everyone. I’ve picked up on some things in this book that some people may not like. First, this book contains many curse words. Second, besides having a humorous tone, there is a lot of sarcasm in there too, so if you don’t like these kind of things in a book, you should not read it.Overall, "Flush" is a creative, fun story that keeps you turning the page, so if you need a book to read, I highly recommend you read this book.

He also wouldn't say what he's done with the dogs, because he knew they'd be safer away from the Carmichaels.Why I chose it:I chose this passage because it shows what Noah and his family have to put up with. There father wants everything to be good, but he doesn't always do it in the most sensible manner. Noah's father has done things like this before, but this time he has taken it a little too far. It is up to Noah to do the right thing, to do the right thing for his dad, and to see that justice is served.

Flush by Carl Hiassen always kept me wondering what interesting twist would contribute to this highly developed story. I loved how there's always something going on with the parents or the kids. It's interesting how all these little things then build up to one big problem...Their father is in jail. The family has to then learn how to endure with their fathers embarrassing and stupid decisions that put the family at risk. This then leads to a series of events that makes you sit at the edge of your seat waiting in anticipation. This is one aspect that kept me entertained and couldn't wait to turn the page. The only part that I didn't like about this book is the non-stop dialogue between the characters. Since I am not a fan of dialogue this part hurt the book the most. This honestly also slowed down and hurt the tempo of the book. In the end I would recommenced this book to someone that is looking for a story that is packed with dialogue and keeps you wanting to read even more.

How does he or she weave together the different elements needed to produce an engaging book for young readers? My recent read, FLUSH by Carl Hiaasen, is a great example of this type of book. It has:A great beginning that hooks the readerThe deputy told me to empty my pockets: two quarters, a penny, a stick of bubble gum, and a roll of grip tape for my skateboard. It was pitiful. "Go on inside. He's waiting for you," the deputy said. My dad was sitting alone at a bare metal table. He looked pretty good, all things considered. He wasn't even handcuffed. "Happy Father's Day," I said.(I dare you not to want to read more after that!)Memorable charactersPaine Underwood- who is jailed for trying to prevent a floating casino from dumping raw sewage into the Florida Keys.Noah Underwood- his son who supports his dad's crusade--even when his father gives up on it himself.
