This was an unexpected find! I found it at a book sale and thought it meerly sounded interesting. After reading it, I can't wait to get the rest of the series!! The only good thing about finding it so long after it was published is that there will be others out already and the only wait is just in finding a copy. I really liked how Jerzy has magic in what seems like a non-traditional way. It created a fresh story that kept my interest. I don't know much about wine making at all, so to have it mixed with magic only made it seem all the more magical. I know there is a lot of detail there that I could look up. I won't, but I appreciate the work that went into it. The whole Vineart world is more complicate than it first appears. Though it becomes more complicated as the story progresses. Vinearts must be tested and stressed to near breaking to bring out the best. I have a feeling Jerzy is in for a lot of stress coming up. The elements are in place. Jerzy has a good foundation to grow on now. If you want a good book that has magic, intrigue, mystery, and is something unique, then this is a book for you. I suggest you give it a try. At the least you might learn how complicated it is to make wine. At the most you will have found a new series to follow. Liked it. Flesh and fire has a very original magic system, activated through wine. The book is not extremely exciting, but it's nice to read and I do want to know how the story will evolve. I would have preferred a bit more character building, and it would be nice if Jerzy (the main character) gets some confidence in the next book, but the end of the book seems promising for that, so I'm definitely going to buy it!
