The series feels much more like a traditional comic book and with solid storytelling, the series is more episodic than long-term story based, especially in this volume.The book really feels pretty segmented. Though as a whole, the collection is about the Rogue’s organization, the collection has a lot of side stories involving Barry and his father (in the flashback issue) and the battle with King Grodd. This episodic storytelling feels like books I read when I started reading comics and it is a nice bit of nostalgia.Adding to this nostalgia is that the Flash’s Rogues have always been ridiculous. I like that they have a moral code, but I don’t like the change to more organic powers. It is the thrust of the story along with Elias’ plotting (which feels a bit like Glorious Godfrey of the Legends storyline), but in the issue based stories, there is little resolution in this volume which the Rogue battle feeling like it has hit full swing when King Grodd invades (setting up the next collection).The Flash 2: Rogues Revolution is another fun entry in the relaunch of the Flash. Since he was the cause of the whole New 52, I expect a lot from the Flash. So far, Manapul and Buccellato have delivered by providing a classic comic book. I hope that they continue their run and really get to flesh out the character. I have always liked second stringers to “the Big Three” (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman), and the Flash is proving he can “run” with the big boys in each issue. The Flash 2: Rogues Revolution is followed by The Flash 3: Gorilla Warfare. I enjoyed this, but the Rogues storyline want that appealing to me. Villains with stereotypical powers and silly costumes just didn't do it for me, even though the villains were given some attempt at a sympathetic backstory. I liked learning more about Barry's childhood, but I also feel like all the flashbacks in this volume were unnecessary, and made the storytelling more confusing/fractured instead of adding to it. Honestly, I'm not loving the New 52 Flash, but I'll probably keep coming back to it every once in a while just for the art.P.S. The Planet of the Apes-like gorilla cliffhanger made me actually less likely to pick up the next trade...
