About book Fitness Confidential (2000)

I am a fan of the Angriest Trainer podcast so I decided to finally read this book. It was entertaining, just as the podcast is. It is at times crude and at times sexist, just like the podcast. That doesn't stop me from liking it and LOVING the message. NSNG (no sugar, no grains) is about as simple as it gets. It's hard to categorize the book. It's a fitnees/weight loss how-to but also a memoir. It works but I think it could also have been two seperate books with each aspect getting more fully formed. In general, I was surprised that he gave so little time to NSNG. I guess I thought the book would go into more detail than the podcast but it's the other way around. If you want more info on NSNG after reading the book, you need to go to the podcast (and I recommend that you do). 4 stars because I was entertained and I didn't want it to end and I hope to encourage more people to consider giving up sugar. I picked this up in an audible sale. I had never heard of Vinnie prior to listening to this book, but I did pick it up while I was experimenting with a Paleo way of eating. This book was part memoir, part health/fitness advice. Of course, there is no magic formula --- just eat real food and avoid sugar and grains (because the body converts grains into sugars). I could see why some would be turned off by Vinnie's style, but beyond some of the cursing and womanizing comments, it was a "fun listen" with some good nuggets of advice thrown in.
