About book Fighting Temptation (2000)

Cute story. I like second-chance stories and although there is nothing super original about this one, it moved at a good pace and had an actual plot. The writing is very unpolished, however. Maybe it's just because it's the debut. I don't know if the author has improved, but it's very amateurish. It is in desperate need of commas (please remember that "stop clubbing baby seals" means something entirely different than "stop clubbing, baby seals") and although the story is general told from a first person present tense perspective, the author tends to slip into the past tense every so often, sometimes within the same paragraph or sentence, and it's quite distracting. Also, is there a reason why everyone says "ya" instead of "yeah" or "yes"? That was a bit bizarre to me as a reader. But other than that, it was an entertaining, quick read. 3.5 stars. This was pretty good for a debut book. I read it quickly and mostly enjoyed it. Unfortunately there were some aspects that didn't work for me, but that won't stop me from reading the next book. I was particularly eager to read Cade's book, but if it's going to be religiously preachy I may have to skip it. I will say that Fighting Temptation was just too predictable for me, as well as pretty cliche at times. Jaxson, while damn hot, was over the top with the temper. Coming from someone who loves aggressive males, he was too much. He pushed past possessive and alpha right into gross douchebaggery and psychiatric need.
