I didn't read 50 Shades of Grey but couldn't resist reading this parody. This was a fast, humorous read poking fun at the craziness of the original book.I did find both characters to be extremely entertaining; Anna with her air-head simplicity and Earl Grey in his role as uber Alpha Male (for Pete's sake he drains the Pacific Ocean to save his Anna!)Yes all the characters were completely undefined and one dimensional but they were fun. You don't read this book looking for a comparison piece to one of the greats like War and Peace or Anna Karenina. You read it because you have some spare time on your hands and need a bit of a laugh. 3.5 stars. They really need to add the half star function to this software.I have just started this book, and I'm loving it! I didn't even read 50 Shades of Gray, and it's still funny! However, I am thinking if I had read that, this may be insanely hilarious, and I'm thinking of reading it just to get more out of this book."Your name is quite distinctive. Are you an English Earl by chance?" I ask.He shakes his head. "If I was, do you think I would have ended up in foster care in the United States? Plus, look at my perfect teeth." See what they did there? ;)Basically, miss steal is an idiot. And i don't know what Grey is yet, besides strange. She shows up to interview him at his high-rise office..."I wish I had borrowed one of Kathleen's suit jackets for the interview. Standing here in this big building in front of this professionally dressed woman, I feel naked in my Tommy hoodie and Victoria's Secret sweatpants with PINK written on the ass." pg 22"It's my best ethnic friend, Jin!"....."'Good news!' he says. 'I've been promoted to forum moderator at ponyexpresssion.net.' When he's not in school or doing homework, Jin spends his freetime reading and writing My Little Pony fanfic. He's deep into the 'brony' scene. Who knew there were so many male fans of 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic'?"pg 23"Although Jin and I are just friends, I'm pretty sure he wants us to be 'more' than friends."Okay, I won't stick anymore of these in there...just to get an idea...but really, the jokes often come left field and surprise you. So it starts off with a bang, but when the novelty is over, the author is left with having to make a story with these unsympathetic characters. And it's okay. Parodies probably make for better movies than books, but it was a fun read.
Do You like book Fifty Shames Of Earl Gray (2000)?
This book is was a joy to read. It was 1000% better written than the "masterpiece" it parodies.
