Great bio-graphic portrait of a very personable genius. Using his own words as often as possible, this comics biography of Richard Feynman presents us with the hyper-intelligent physicist and Nobel prize winner with the common touch. Stories from his life include working on the Manhattan project with Robert Oppenheimer, meeting and working with every famous physicist and scientist from the 20th century and a lifetime of work on QED, which is explained in the simplest possible terms, using techniques from Feynman's own lectures, but which I still don't understand. I'm afraid my tiny brain will forever by impenetrable by certain concepts in physics and Quantum Theory. But I can marvel at their beauty and simplicity and also the minds that created them. This was quite a well done book. The story covers a nice balance of Feynman's personal and intellectual life. I wish there had been more on his reflections about having been a part of the Manhattan Project. My favourite parts were the parts where Feynman talked about his research process and teaching methods. I appreciate the way he worked to make his ideas accessible to lay folks and freshman college students--an awareness and thoughtfulness too few scholars have. But Feynman clearly articulated that if you can't explain a concept simply then you probably don't understand it yourself.
Very engaging book. The illustrator in particular seems to have captured Feynman's personality.
