Manga has really upped my tolerance for over-the-top backstories, to the point where its hard to make me feel deeply bad for a character, but this one managed it. It helps that I absolutely love the character of Erza, but it's also because, in seeing this backstory, it reframes much of what Erza has done earlier in the series and that's something I absolutely love out of long series.Aside from that, we get more of what Fairy Tail does best - flat and simple support for friends, regardless of what they are doing or where they're coming from. I love this arc quite a lot, even with the melodrama :) Starting off the Tower of Heaven Arc begins Chapter 75: Dream of a Butterfly.Learning that Loke is actually the Celestial Spirit Leo. He tries to whisk Lucy off to talk about their future, but he has to return to the Celestial Plane so he gives the team tickets to a resort. Erza is automatically ready to go wearing her swimsuit, floaty, hat and dragging her packed bag cart. Asking what they're waiting for, and that she wants to on the next train. While at the resort Erza recognizes a card dealer, and bad memories start to return. Continuing into Chapter 76: The Tower of Paradise. One by on Erza's old friends and comrades start to show up. She agonizes over the past. While demanding them to free Lucy Wally shoots her with a Sleep Bullet, and the kidnap her and Happy. We learn so much more about Erza's past that is so emotionally traumatic that you begin to understand her character, but you'll have to read that for yourself.Cheers and Happy Reading!
