Do You like book Eye For An Eye (2008)?
Does the first in the series always have to be serial killer book? Thankfully it wasn't a killer of women for a change. Add to the mix the creepy POV of the killer as we get a view into the whys of it all. Then add the aggravation of an excellent police officer who for reasons not made clear is frowned upon by his boss and is always under the threat of dismissal. If you can get past all that the story and the characters are wprth reading about. I have the next in the series so I hope my initial complaints will be only a memory.

A stunning debut. I like a good police procedural crime story based in the UK, and that is exactly what this is, but so much more. An interesting lead character, with a good supporting cast of cops, villains, low-lifes, arrogant bosses and nice old ladies. St Andrews comes across as a character in its own right, I could really visualise each location, each nicely kept house and each revolting bed-sit! There is not too much stress on the procedure but lots of character-driven plot. I look forward to reading the next two in the series.

listened to as an audio book, I mainly choose this after listening to the sample as it reminded me of James nesbitt's voice. David Monteath's narration was chillingly good.I picked the genre of book hoping for a Agatha crossed with Martina cole- but it was much more grim :/A good detective story with a trouble making detective goldcrest where the murderer wasn't revealed till 3/4 through. Plenty of twists & turns, with colourful characters. Not a light read. hard hitting.I didn't dislike the book but feel u need to be in a certain mindset to enjoy this type of novel.
