*****CAUTION: REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS*****Set in 1945 amid WWII, a young American woman and her sister take positions as Governesses for a wealthy rancher in Australia. On a flight to join the family for a vacation, the small plane crashes onto a deserted island in the Pacific killing the pilot and the sister. Six weeks later, the main character (and only survivor of the accident) is found in shock and nearly starved to death. Rescued by an American Naval vessel, the young lady is still dealing with the emotional trauma and desperate to return home to her family. She returns home and spends the rest of the book just trying to fit back into society after such a traumatic ordeal... somehow, rather unbeliveably, her "hero' shows up and the two take thier time dating, getting to know each other, and falling in love.... in all honesty, the only interesting part of the story is the beginning with the plane crash (and 90% of the details are never offered), the rest of the story is pretty mild and bland even for a Christian romance. There aren't really any moments where you just love the characters and wish they could get together... to be completely blunt, either character could have ended up with anyone else and I wouldn't have been bothered.... I was very disappointed in this story. I enjoy Lori Wick and this was, without a doubt, one of my least favorite books I've ever read!
Well, it is not the best book in the world. But it is a pretty good romance book. I do have one slight beef with it besides the improbability of the entire thing, and that is that a whole lot of people died. But none of the military guys died, only civilians. The main character, Lorraine's dad is dead, as are both her grandmothers. Her (eventual) mother-in-law tells of her parents dying within 48 hours of each other. A family friends daughter has a miscarriage. But somehow, no men were actually killed in the war. I can let it pass, but it still irks me slightly.
Do You like book Every Storm (2004)?
I liked this book a lot, and the large print edition I read made it even better! It was interesting to read about a family starting in 1945 and how they started to recover after the warm. It makes me want to read a book that was actually written about that time rather then set in the time period to see what people were writing about then.Also, reading about the grandpa who burried his wife, son and granddaughter made me realize that my sister and I need to not do reckless things, because we can't put my grandpa through that!

One of the stories that I have really enjoyed reading, even took a really short time to read because it was so good I couldn't put in down. It was Like reading two love stories in one novel. This book is really based on the lost but I didnt like it starting with war, something that makes me think back on the stories my grandpa has to me from his time at the war. He was a christian and because of our belief we are not aloud to take a wepon and kill someone, its a sin. So know how much this even small part did in the book its still not a christan beging to start out with war. but the rast of the book was amazing I have loved it. The things that touched me we how to get over lossing that loved one. Everytime it talked about their sister and the time at the funeral I set and cried because I help like I was going back to remember my own loses over the years. this is a great book to tell all of us that we are Gods children and that he know all thats right. Giving hope that one day we will see each and eveyone we have lost in Heaven.
