I love to listen to audio books read by the author, which this one was. I laughed out loud in the car several times and there were several chapters I replayed because I liked them so much. The book is not only funny, but touching in some parts and profound in others. I especially liked the chapter called November 9, 1909- Everything in the World is Enough. It's perfect.Oh, and just so I wouldn't miss out on the pictures, I checked out the hard copy to get a look at them. He describes them on the audio and it made me curious. I've long been a fan of Penn Jillette, so I had a pretty good idea that I would like this book. It may come as a surprise to those not familiar with Penn that he doesn't endlessly run his mouth about being a libertarian, nor is his goal to offend anybody with his atheist views (unless one first offends hime with their theist beliefs). Instead, Penn is a very sweet man who loves his family more than anything in the world. The love he expresses towards his children, wife, his parents, and life itself is really quite moving. In this book, Penn shares some of his experiences. Sure, some of the stories are sprinkled with his views, but mostly, the stories serve as a reminder that life is beautiful and that we all ought to enjoy every single second of it. We don't need a holiday (holiday derived from holy day - a day devoted to a particular thing) to remind us that we should be thankful or pay homage to something - after all, as an atheist, every day is a holiday (a day to devote to life itself). This book is often times touching, sometimes funny, and all of the time worth reading.
Do You like book Every Day Is An Atheist Holiday (2012)?
