The thing with this series is that this is what happens when you have a fantastic imagination and are a terrible writer. I can't stop reading the books because the mythos is fascinating, but good God, man, you're 32. You ought to know the difference between lose and loose. More than that, though, the stylistic choices left something to be desired. 4 stars for mythos, 1 star for writing mechanics and style = 3 stars. Good book, easy to read for anyone. Fits in well with the YA authors. If you are looking for something with more sophisticated writing, find something else to read. If you have enjoyed authors like Catherine Fisher or Brian Jacques then this will fit nicely in your reading pile. This book is open ended so you will need to search for the next book to continue on with the story. All in all, it is a good book simply written.
