The synopsis for this book sounded so good, and I was really looking forward to reading it, but it just wasn't that good to me. The characters weren't very likeable in my opinion. Their backstories were pretty interesting, but their reactions to certain things were confusing and I really didn't see the chemistry between the two characters. I also didn't really like Gabe because of some of the stuff he said about women, like how he knew his mother didn't love his father because she wouldn't change her last name to his. Like really? A woman needs to change her last name to her husband's just to prove that she loves him? I don't think so. Women can decide to keep their maiden name and still love their husbands. So things like that really frustrated me, and I just couldn't like Gabe when he kept saying stuff like that. Also, I read this in the kindle edition, and there were so many typos that I wanted to scream. I can't believe how many mistakes were in it, and I'm wondering if the kindle edition actually had a proofreader. They were such obvious errors that I really don't understand how they made it through to the final copy. The constant errors distracted me from the story, and I ended up skimming some parts because I just couldn't stand the errors anymore. Hopefully the paperback copy didn't have the same errors.The concept sounded really good, but it just fell flat for me. I know many people like this book and I do see the appeal of the story, but I just couldn't get into it. The cover is gorgeous though. I don't even know where to start…let's just first say this is one of my favorite reads to date, and reminds me why I love YA so much. So many books these days are loaded with sex, gut wrenching topics, and some more sex. This book doesn't touch that at all, and how refreshing it was to not have it. It was a story; a real life story. The characters were real. The feelings were real….the WORDS were real. It was all about living without boundaries, and experiencing life through someone else. It was heartwarming. It was told effortlessly…it was simply wonderful. I've read some of Steph Campbell's other books, but this one is her best to date. I could tell that she was passionate about this storyline- her life experiences with the topic discussed showed through her words, making this book a book that will stay with you for a very long time. Well done, Steph and congratulations on this beautiful story!
