much to my surprise this was actually a really enjoyable little short. it was an incredibly quick read as well. The heroine is tough enough to get my admiration but has a believable but not overdone vulnerability that really makes her likable. I also liked that she kept an open mind and chose love over narrow mindedness. The hero was sexy if youre into the vampire trying to battle his instincts so he doesnt harm the woman he loves thing which i am(but let me be clear only works in books in real life thats the start of a DV situation). Their romance was already there so not much time was spent on it but it definitely wasnt neglected either. The sex scene and almost sex scene were both really hot. The story was interesting though nothing novel and the writing was really good. For a short it managed to be both well developed and well paced though like most (enjoyable) shorts i wouldnt have minded a little more background on the characters and maybe some development in between the fade out to epilogue. A really enjoyable (and fast!) read and while ill definitely check out more by this author i cant say this one has anything in it that just compels me to reread it. This is an extremely short novella: 44 pages. And I'm no fan of novellas but I think this was a perfectly reasonable couple to give a novella treatment.Andrea and Kaden are very minor, secondary characters. Its been a while since I've read the Demonica books but I don't think either of them had much time in any of the books. But if you're a person who likes to see the origins of everyone in a series, this is going to be a must-read. Otherwise, I think it would be okay to skip this novella. But then again, why skip it? It's good and it's short!Andrea and Kaden are members of the Aegis. They are vampire slayers, demon hunters, pretty much any supernatural creature that needs exterminating, they can do it. And they're dating and having a great time. But everything changes when Kaden is captured by vampires and turned into one. The question becomes what will Andrea do? Will she do her duty and dispatch him? Or will she let him go?Character development was really great for such a short novella. There wasn't a ton of Sexy Time but holy cow, what do you want in a 44 page book?! LOL! I think this would be a pretty great book for someone who was thinking about getting into the Demonica series. If a reader does NOT like this book, they may not like the rest of the series. If a reader enjoys this novella, I think it's likely that they would enjoy the rest of the series (which I really loved).Even though it's short and the characters involved aren't essential to the greater series, it was a good story and I enjoyed it. I would recommend this book. Three stars because although it's a good book, it's not essential reading.
