Overall, this is how responsibility was demonstrated throughout the book.If anyone were to read this book, people would think the moral would be about responsibility for several reasons. To start with, sometimes you need to do responsible decisions. without help. Like, in the book when Kyle and to choose if he should get further from the tsunami or just stay there waiting for someone to save them. Furthermore, what makes the book interesting is that it talks about something that can happen in real life and what anyone can do during that natural disaster. In other words, these are the reasons why readers would probably want the book to be longer when they are finished with the book.
Before I started reading this book, I had never even heard of it. No one I knew has mentioned this to me or has recommended this to me. After reading Escaping the Giant Wave, I finally understood why.The way I found out about this book was that I was assigned to read it for school. I didn't like this book too much. In my review, I am going to explain why (or, at least the main reasons why).First off, I'm going to talk about the "action" in this book. When I looked at the title and the cover of the book, I thought it was going to be really action-packed. Boy, was I totally wrong. Peg Kehret could have made her book really action packed, since it was about trying to live through a natural disaster. Instead, she decided to write something else. The most action in this book was when Kyle and BeeBee where shielding themselves behind a tree while they were looking at a tsunami destroy some stuff. That's not action at all, when the narrator looks at action happening instead of actually being in the action. This action issue made the story really boring. Because of all this, I wanted to stop reading this book and pick up a much better book--but I had to read this book the whole way through, since it was a school assignment. That was pure torture.I don't even know what to talk about this book next. It has so many flaws that I don't even know what to say next. How about this?: The length of this book. This book is so short. Material like this should be at least 600 pages. Doesn't anyone agree with me here? I know this book is meant for tweens, but sill--way too short. People in my class who had also read this book for school say its length is absolutely perfect. I highly disagree with them. For me, though: Too short. I finished this book in 30 minutes. Chapter books for young adults aren't supposed to be read start to finish within 30 minutes. They should take at least a few days to read. Anybody with me here? Because of this book's short length, I should consider this a chapter book for seven-year-olds rather than young adults.I think that's it for right now. But remember: This is only a small fraction of what I don't like about this book. I do like some little things about this book that got it an extra star in my rating, but I didn't mention them in my review. I focused on the bad stuff that I didn't like about this book. Also, I know you're wondering: Would I recommend this to anybody? If so, who? Well, my answer to that question is: No. I would only recommend this book to my worst enemy. And you know who you are out there.
Do You like book Escaping The Giant Wave (2015)?
Another Kehret book that I think was good but not great. This one had a lot of interesting action but I thought there wasn't much character development. The author basically begins the story and throws you immediately into the action and then just as quickly wraps up the story. This formula probably works well for the intended audience (middle grades) but it is a little disconcerting to a more sophisticated reader. Great action book though that would probably appeal to boys and girls grades 3 - 6.

This book is to easy to predict, you know what is going to happen even before it does. NO suspense is generated by this and i can't connect with the characters. It is to short and I finished it 3 days, this book may be a better for 8 year old people. These are the reasons that i gave it a one star review. BIG THUMBS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!

The book escaping the giant wave by Peg kehret was a really good book.I love books that talk about natural disasters. The main settings was that they were at a resort and a earthquake hit them which caused a tsunami. It hit them hard because they were at the shoreline. The main characters were kylie, her little sister bee bee and her mom and dad.It was a really touching story. There parents die by the tsunami.I liked this book but I will not recommend this to another friend. It's very touching and sad.
