What I loved about this book was first the beautifully poetic descriptions from Ballard and Gavin's curse effects to Isabeau treacherous rose bushes. I loved the banter between Louvaen/ Ambrose and Lou/Ballard. Lou is a great heroine,a lot of spunky wit. Such a difference in sisters Lou and Cinnia especially in the beginning, glad Cinnia comes into her own. I gave this 5* because of the phenomenal writing, great story( nice take on beauty and the beast) and message of true love that heals all. Beauty and the Beast meets Taming of the Shrew! this book is as much about 'Bianca'(Cinnia) and 'Lucentio' (Gavin) as it is about "Kat' (Louvean) and 'Petruchio' (Ballard). In some parts, I found myself more interested in Gavin and Cinnia's story rather than the main protagonists'; i.e.- Ballard and Louvean... Nonetheless, it was good enough to keep me reading till the end - hence, the three stars. A good re-telling of the B&B fairy tale, but the plot did lose it's gothic essence in parts , making the atmosphere inconsistent.

A retelling of Beauty and The Beast. It was a bit slow in the middle but an alright story.
