About book Żelazny Anioł (2009)

After the pretty awesomeness that was "Scar Night", Iron Angel is not as strong. The main problem is, the action no longer takes place in Deepgate--Campbell ditches one of the biggest strengths of the first novel. The new settings are many and they change rapidly--there's no setting to get invested into as much as in Deepgate. There's a whole host of new characters, but few of them are as-well written as book one. On the upside, there are some absolutely epic scenes, and some fantastic fight scenes. But the book ends on a cliffhanger, so it loses points for that. Eughhh. Not great. But hard to hate it because of some truly original concepts contained in it. But it went on a little long. I mean, c'mon let's all just admit we're here to find out about the huge fucking steampunk angel skeleton on the cover. But *he* doesn't show up until (seriously) 90% of the way through. Until then, we've got to follow this fantasy web of brand new "gods on earth" tropes and Hell tropes, that make varying degrees of sense.

Do You like book Żelazny Anioł (2009)?

Interesting seeing more of the Deepgate world, but it lacks some of the drama of the first book.

Not as good as the first, but still better than many things out there.
