About book El Reto De Las 100 Cosas (2014)

I think the 100 Thing Challenge is itself more interesting than this book. Maybe because I have been trying to reduce the number of my own personal possessions for many years. So he was kinda preaching to the choir.I should have expected it from the title but did not realize that this was going to be strictly a personal story. I expected more of the book to be critique of consumerism itself. I expected more of a psychological investigation in what drives us to consume. Or perhaps the cognitive and emotional benefits of a simpler lifestyle not driven by the acquisition of things. I expected the book to address the connection between our sense of self and the things we chose to purchase/own. These themes were touched on but I would have liked seen a more deep/thorough investigation. Maybe something a tad more provocative?Don't want to be too hard on the book or the author. He is making a concerted effort to step away from buying stuff. That's admirable and I do think the book is a good first read for someone considering a similar change. I read the book, because I was interested in the topic. But only God knows why I didn't give up and chose a better book on the same topic.I don't know what kind of person the author is, but I sure as hell found the narrator annoying. I refrain from listing all the derogative terms that have come to my mind while I was reading the book.I think, the pretentious big words could have easily been cut from the book. Big words don't make you appear more intelligent, I'm afraid.Man is fallible, but there was one stupid mistake the author did: he replaced his quality items with cheap crap. No wonder he missed them later on.This book shouldn't have been written, or should have been written by someone else. For example, by the mother of the author who is said to be a hysterical storyteller.

Do You like book El Reto De Las 100 Cosas (2014)?

I couldn't finish this. I got bored with it. I like the idea but it wasn't the book for me.

The title says it all - the book reads like a 165 page footnote. Good concept though.

This was a terrible book, I only finished it because I hate not finishing a book
—Ellie

Poor writing, no real reason for the book to be written. Don't waste your time.
