About book Echo's Van De Titanic (2012)

I didn't mind that the story took place in the world of finance, a subject I'm not riveted by. I didn't even mind when it took a turn to Christian Historical Fiction. I minded when the authors referred to every character at least once as 'poor man or poor woman'. When the lead character always referred to her parents by their actual names & then the authors would remind us these were her parents she was naming. When the authors explained that believe-it-or-not, some apps are free! Ugh, I really hate when a good story gets brought down by terribly mediocre writing. Readers are smart people authors, and want smartly written books. A very different type of book than I normally read. I'm not exactly sure what genre it is... maybe cozy mystery? It is two stories, one of Adele Brennen who survived - or did she? - the Titanic and one of Kelsey Tate, her great-granddaughter, and how they are connected.Kelsey's world is shaken to the core when her mentor is found dead in the office, a long-lost cousin surfaces to claim Adele died on the Titanic, and her ex-boyfriend offers to help her sort it all out. Engaging story with plenty of twist and turns to keep the reader guessing what comes next. Well done history on the Titanic as well, brought vividly to life in the scenes on board the ship. Wonderful warm, and unexpected, ending to wrap it all up.
