Loved this book. Maybe because I spent 10 years in Africa doing ministry work. I lived in South Africa for part of that time and the leading character was from SA. Maybe because I lost my mother at a young age and so did the leading character. Maybe because I had disfiguring surgery repeatedly and could relate to the opinions of others about beauty. Or maybe because it was just a good book. This book is part of a series. Which I discovered at a late date, and I think it would help to read the books in order. "easy on the eyes" by Jane Porter is another amazing story told in an engaging voice. Jane's books always feel like you're sitting in a room chatting with friends, even if the world your friend lives in is something you've never experienced.The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because the first half of the book was a little slowly paced and each of Tiana's angsts and sorrows were all repeated one time too many. However, the second half of the book is where the power and depth of Jane's talent for story is delivered.This story is not just about glitz and aging, or even that much of a romance between Tiana and Michael though those aspects enhance the story. It's really about personal transformation and a woman finding her inner power while putting it into action, and becoming a greater benefit to others than a celebrity.
Liked this more than I thought. It also had way more depth than her previous novels.
