Unsettling, frustrating, soul crushing, captivating, gritty, raw, unapologetic, sick, beautiful these are just a few adjectives to describe this book. There is so much more and most of it I loathed but in a way that I couldn't help but keep reading and shamefully loved at the same time. I was drawn into these characters and the story and that is because the writing style is so unique and uninhibited and the story is not sugar coated. There is no "major event" that leads to the drug use or the codependency, there is no "Evil Villain". The characters are multi-dimensional and complex. It is a series of young, naive choices and rebellion. All things anyone can relate to, even if not to that extreme. These authors were not afraid to wring out every raw emotion and uncomfortable truth of real life and leave me a dried up sponge dying to be soaked back in. If you are not weary of being completely disturbed and yet completely engrossed, I recommend this book. It's poetic and real, and will leave you loving whats hopeless and hating whats reckless and wishing you could rewrite these characters history. But some of us just can't be saved. I'm at a loss how to rate this one - it's not necessarily a pretty story but it kept me reading and reading and reading...The story is at times painful and I quit counting how many times I wanted to slap Bella or Edward or Alice or Carlisle or Esme or Renee or... Well basically ALL of them. This story is basically insanity on an angsty rollercoaster but for me that's always been what a good fanfiction is made of. It's different from books and I can't quite explain the distinction. But the rule of loving a fanfic are much different than loving a book - at least for me. So I look really forward what will happen to this piece as it is transformed into a book.In the end I'Ll have to go with 5 stars just for the insanity that kept me reading :)
