About book Drought ARC (2011)

Overall this book is disappointing. Pam, the author, did not close up any questions that were burning. It was really basically like she just didn't want to finish it, so she sent it off like it was and got it published. Although the resolution was quite disappointing, the imagery was wonderful. I really felt like I could feel everything she described. Honestly I could definitely put myself in Ruby, the main character, shoes. In "Drought," Ruby has been alive for 200 doing nothing but scraping "special" dew drops from trees and bringing them to the crude Overseer in charge of it all. Whoever drinks from the special water wil have Immortality, which is the reason that the Overseer has been keeping several workers plus Ruby there for 200 years. Until, finally, Ruby has had enough. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy untied endings and no sequel to follow. I honestly am NOT a fan of those types of books but you might enjoy it. There's definitely some Deeper, emotional feelings to this book, which makes it so beautiful. This book could've been written when Pam was feeling a prisoner. Like she was stuck, repeating the same task everyday, no joy, literally stuck in time... Pam wrote this book to show the world how she feels. To connect with others who felt that way, too. Read Drought, to feel how she felt. To know, what she knew. So many theories buzzing in my head. So many questions have risen and fallen and most are left unanswered but it fits this book. This book is one of those types that can leave many questions unanswered and the reader will still feel satisfied because the mystery fits the story. Enough was answered to make it an intriguing read and enough was left open for interpretation and guesses to make the story last in the reader's memory.Well written and an interesting idea.Sad, too.
