Ask yourself what did he do to deserve this, he couldn't have been a gangbanger or could he? This is one of the problems Tito has to face in this action packed book called Drive By.The main character is Tito as you can see.Tito has been through a lot of thing first his brother was killed by some gangbangers. not so much later after Jimmy's funeral Tito got to his house from school and then bam there started a drive by shooting but just in time Gus saved Tito.Then Tito had to move to Miss Washington's house. One night he heard something in the backyard so he went it was his friend gus he told him if they wanted to hang out. Tito said he would hang out if he didn't have to join a gang. Then they went but when he got there gus was with some gangbangers. So they said that they killed him because he was skimming through their drug money but it was so he could help his mom maintain the family. But still if is it not payed back Tito will pay with his life. I felt sad when Jimmy died because he is as nice as a new born baby. I think he shouldn't have died. I think its a little harsh to waste a life for some money.plus Jimmy still had a family to maintain. It was also sad how everyone was crying for Jimmy to come back. if I lost my brother I would always have a have something missing in my heart.It was also suspenseful because so many times he almost gets caught by a group of gangbangers wouldn't it be scary and suspenseful if you almost got caught by a group of gangbangers. also he has to pay the drug money Jimmy stold or else...I think that was a pretty suspenseful part.I recommend this book to people who like action and suspense because it is packed with both of them.There is a combination of both of them. How would you react if your brother was shot in cold blood. Well that's what happened with Mina and her brother Tito. The genre of this book is realistic fiction. Let's see how and why Jimmy was involved in this drive by. ***SPOILER ALERT*** This book takes place in Los Angeles, California. It is relevant to the story because this mentions different types of gangs and LA has a high rate of gang related crime. Tito and Mina want to find out who the people that shot were. But the gangbangers took control of there home and they had to move next door with their neighbor. So the next day seen the possible suspects that shot Jimmy at the diner and called the police. Then the police arrested the people who committed the crime and Tito and Mina and their family got justice. The type of conflict of this story is person v. person. It is person v. person because Tito tries to fight the gang and get justice for Jimmy. This story is based on gangs and the setting really gives me a feel for the conflict. I was surprised when the gangbangers broke into Tito's house and tagged all over the walls. I don't know why the police didn't do anything about it. Also I was pretty surprised when the next door neighbors dog went missing. Tito went out looking for it and found out Jimmy's rival gang took it from them. I was pretty confused/frustrated on how Tito, Jimmy and Mina were walking home so late from a party. They know the gangbangers are out and it is pretty dangerous be walking at night. Also I was surprised of the fact that Jimmy didn't tell his family that he was a gangbanger. I would recommend this book 4 out of 5 stars because I really thought the setting went with the conflict. I would recommend this to people that need a short but enjoyable read. I don't think anyone in a one million years be in Tito shoes. With his brother dead and all the stress on him.
my opinion of this book is that it was a good read if you needed a quick read. but on the other hand this book was good because it talked about something that could really happen.the whole story is a family, a mother and three brothers that meet end. the oldest one works in a gang and they dont even know it after a while his oldest brother died in a shoot out after him and his brother were walking home with his sister from his birthday party. know the second oldest brother is the one in charge. he is still in high school but he starts to work at this resturant. he gives his little sister french fries every morning. his friend gives him a gun just so he can protect him self from the gang if they ever come back.

Drive By is a book about a boy and his best friend watches his brother get shot and killed by a gang member. This book was written by Lynne Ewing. I would give this book a 2 1/2 because of the lack of reality. But other than that the book was pretty good but there was some sad parts in the book but i would feel sad a little but then the way the narrator wrote the words it threw me off a little. I would not recommend this book to anyone it really let me down. There was one part in the book where the realistic point of view there was nothing their like when his best girlfriend had been taken by someone on the street he didn’t seem like he was scared of afraid at all.

this book is a book that i am curently reading. This book is about a little boy named jimmy and jimmy and his brother and his lttle sister were going home on the way from there little sisters friend party and when they were going to play for a lttle bit tito the brother said no we should be on the way home and jimmy of coures said no lets play 4 alttile and they did so they heard lound music. its was coming from a car it pulled up in front of jimmy and jimmy were talking and the people from the car were known as people from a gang and they shot fire and the fires landed on jimmy and jimmy droped to the floor and the car drove off. this book is really interesting because its teaching a lesson on how the kids have curfue and need 2 go home rite away!know i am finished reading this book i ended the book 2-4-2010this book is alwsome and i teaches a lot f lesson of never join a gang because that could cause death or even someone getting hurt. i love this book personaly because its teaching the reader that to stay out of trouble n that knot to let anyone jugde you 4 wat youh dont want to do! i hope that people would try and read this book and to take there time and focuse on the book because you wont understand it if u dnt and its just a good book to red and i knoe that yall will injoy the book!
