About book Drinking And Tweeting And Other Brandi Blunders (2013)
Surprised to have given this book 3 stars. At first, it was vapid. Listening to the whining of a pseudo celebrity (I had never heard of this woman or her husband). I persevered and actually came to like the book. Regardless of who she is, Brandi was trying to deal with a cheating husband, ensuing divorce and co-parenting. Her means might have been different but she was living within her reality. And her reality is pretty funny! So I blame a friend for getting me to watch RHOBH when the back episodes showed up on Hulu. It is strangely compelling, and Brandi is one of the best parts (after Lisa Vanderpump, who maybe I want to be when I grow up). I admire some things about Brandi, and I find her relationship with social media to be interesting, but she's far, far from perfect.This is not fine literature to see the very least. The writing is incredibly juvenile, which I personally find difficult to read. And much of it comes off as very, very bitter. I could have done with perhaps 75% less discussion of LeAnn Rimes. But that said, I can see how this story would particularly speak to women who have been divorced and are restarting their lives. And I just found it interesting from a celebrity gossip and slice of life in Beverly Hills kind of way.Also, I read this book in maybe an hour and a half. :-pIf you're a fan of the show, it's worth a read. If the thought of watching the show like that makes you throw up in your mouth a little, avoid it at all costs.
