this was a cute, fun read about a driven, ambitious girl who is finding her place in the world. her fatal flaw? she runs away/quits when she's scared of something, whether it's hurting herself physically or emotionally. this story is where she learns to face her fears. while this book wasn't perfect, it was thoroughly enjoyable. yes, some parts were superfluous, but they only added to the fullness of willow's world.what drives me to read books and to watch tv or movies for that matter is usually great characters, and this thankfully had some wonderful ones. they were real and flawed and annoying at times but also perfectly endearing and heart-warming. yay for feel-good high-school romances with lessons to be learned. It's curious that I bought this book after reading the blurb and a few reviews. Cheerleaders? 'You jump, I jump'? The cover of the book? Alarm bells should have been blaring loud enough for my entire neighbourhood to be aware of how mediocre (at the best of it's times) this book would be. Thank you Angie Stanton for creating Willow, a character which lived up to every passing preconception I've had about cheerleaders, dancers, or the drama kids at my high school. It's delightful to know that they are as annoying as I had imagined.
