This initially took me a little bit of time to get into but then once I did, I really started to enjoy it - the idea for the story is interesting and there are lots of different parts to it, plus I really quite like the various characters. There is a lot going on here - time travel, mystery plots, broken engagements, talking to ghosts, psychic stuff, romance, fighting, politics, jack the ripper, mental health issues, book theft from the museum, arson...the list goes on! Now on the one hand, you could say that you won't get bored and I definitely like a plot with numerous threads woven in. But despite enjoying it all, I felt at times like maybe there was a bit too much going on and none of the threads were moving quite as swiftly as I wanted them to.So despite lots of things happening, I started to find myself getting impatient for the story to unfold and I got a little side-tracked around 60-odd% in when it started to feel like it was going quite slowly. However, luckily I picked it back up after a small break and got back into it. I'm glad I carried on to finish it as the pace picked back up again and the various threads started resolving themselves.I did think a few of the things resolved themselves a bit TOO neatly, but I kind of didn't care by this point as the BIG thing I was bothered about was the romance between Morgan and Ezra and what would happen - will Morgan go back to his own time and leave Ezra? etc... and I have to say that I felt this part was done really well and I was satisfied by the ending.Overall an enjoyable adventure that could have been edited down a little to be slightly shorter in length. This was a lovely, lovely story. The romance between Ezra and Morgan was heartfelt and heartbreaking at the same time. There was one section of the story when Morgan is returning to his own era and his new friends are saying their good byes to him which made me tear up and actually cry. The following quote is Derry's good bye to Morgan: "I'll meet up with you again on another day, Morgan Nash, on another road. We'll sit down to a beer, cold if you like, and laugh til the tears we shed are the happy ones they cannot be now." Oh my, I am starting to cry again just typing that quote. This story is about love, good byes, friendship, destiny and I almost forgot Jack the Ripper. Just wonderful.
