About book Don't Worry, It Gets Worse: One Twentysomething's (Mostly Failed) Attempts At Adulthood (2013)

As a recent follower of the Frenemy blog, I was excited to read this book. What makes Alida so quippy and clever in her posts and lists didn't translate as well to the longer form of essays. I found her to be more likable than Sloane Crosley and yet not as good of a writer. And while she comes off as very empowering on her blog, some of that was missing here. Then again, at just about 200 pages, there was clearly a lot more that could have been included. I've been following Alida Nugent's blog for quite some time now, and was ecstatic when I found out she was writing a book. As a twentysomething myself, Nugent's work has always spoken to me on a personal level. While the book does seem to be discombobulated at times, jumping through topics and timelines a bit haphazardly, her voice as an author shines through loud and clear with tons of biting wit. Nugent keeps her readers interested in her myriad of topics throughout, offering gems of wisdom between the wisecracks.

This is a quick, funny, read that will be soothing to any 20-something post-grad.

It's always nice to see that other "adults" are having issues growing up.
