It was okay. Nothing really unique, but really is with these MM shifter stories what is unique anymore? Heh. I did like how Eli was a snake shifter as they're uncommon in these types of stories. I also liked that it was inter-racial. For some reason I don't see as many of those as there should be. The rest of the plot elements were average. Nothing really stands out. Except for... The thing that annoyed me the most was the "my sub" and "sweet sub" as endearments. Or referring to him as "my sub" or "the sub." Ugh. I don't really read D/s or BDSM books (though this was really lacking any elements of that genre) so I don't know if a Dom calling his submissive in such a way is common or not. I just know I didn't like it. It was just...awkward. I didn't find it sweet or sexy. I'm not sure why this book is listed on "Best Gay Polyamorous Romance." There was Eli and Sam. They were monogamous. There was a kiss from Yuma to Eli, but it wasn't due to sexual reasons. And Eli said once he claimed Sam there'd be no others. So...a bit confused. I just don't understand this trend towards mindless plotless stories. This book did nothing to forward the plot... if there is one. I have yet to find a main plotline through this break off of the Wolves of Stoneridge series. The characters are getting more flat and stereotypical with each entry. The sex scenes are becoming more like porn scripts and less romantic... although I will give kudos to the author for at least having some after care for her sub. That's not to say that the scene couldn't have been more stereotypical if some 1970's porn music were playing in the background. I kept waiting for the boom-chicka-bow-wow to play. This will probably be the last book in this series I will read as I'm so disappointed by this point that there really is no reason to read further.
