I enjoyed the book, and finding out more details of the "back story", having started with the 3rd book in this series, and now catching up before moving on to the 4th book. It's an easy read, although sometimes a little bit of a challenge to engage quite as much when you know the outcome of some of the plot angles. Good action, and gives a little more understanding of Sharpe and Donovan's families, and the experiences shaping their partnership. I've read most of Carla Negger's books, and enjoyed them. This one took up where her last book, Saint's Gate, left off. Emma has a new boyfriend, Colin, one of the four Donovan boys and a mystery to solve with an old Russian client from her days with the family business. Despite all the characters running through the stories, and the dual story lines with Emma and her past client, and Colin and hisenemies from his undercover role with the FBI, the action in this book was surprisingly quiet. There was more explanation, and with the exception of the opening sequence with Colin, not alot of suspense or peril for either of the main characters. It wasn't really clear how Colin's enemies found him, and the connection with Emma's clients was a little convenient, but all in all, Carla Neggers is an excellent writer and an easy, enjoyable read.
