A very good friend of mine told me that I should read the Graveyard Queen series by Amanda Stevens and I thought that it would be better to start by reading this novella. Well, definitely it was a very interesting and atmospheric read and I enjoyed it very much! It’s easy to see that the author is very talented and her writing style very good. The book has mystery and a little romance and it’s as creepy as it should be!The story is about Ree, a young woman who is working in a mental hospital. When an old woman dies, she heard a conversation between the head doctor and another man. And afterwards with the help of Hayden, a ghost hunter, she’s trying to solve a mystery and discover a secret. The story is fast-paced and it kept my interest from the beginning until the end. It’s only a novella so don’t expect much work on the characters or the plot, but it’s easy to see that there is very good material to continue the series. So, I enjoyed it and that’s why I will the first book of the series. This is a prequel to the series "Graveyard Queen" and I got it as a freebie at Amazon. While the series was about Amelia Gray, this prequel focused on this psychology graduate student Ree who volunteers at a mental hospital. Strange things began to occur when her favorite patient passed away. She met Hunter, an amateur ghost hunter through her sleepwalking event (which is a possibility of being possessed by a ghost that might be related to her favorite patient - is it the patient or is it someone that she used to know?). Now she went to see Amelia Gray (this was where I assumed that was introduced for the series) who has an affinity in supernatural events - which wasn't really covered at all. Now the mystery surrounding the death of the patient must be solved or Ree's life might be affected...This prequel was short and sweet and yet I felt that it was developed pretty much to introduce the series.
Do You like book Dolende Geesten (2011)?
Not my genre normally. Not sure what i thought of it. Just a SS, not much meat on it.
