This is the story of a dog that loves books. He loves everything about them, including the smell of them and the feel of them. One day he decides he loves books so much that he will open a bookstore. The story follows dog as he excitedly prepares for the grand opening of his bookstore, the only problem is that no one turns up and dog finds himself alone. Fed up of waiting for customers he starts reading some of the books from his shelves and finds himself surrounded by dinosaurs and aliens and is no longer alone. As a bit of a bookworm myself this story really appealed to me and I loved the gentle pastel illustrations, especially the endearing character of dog. The only downside with the illustrations are that they may be slightly difficult to see if sharing the book as a whole class and therefore it may be better read in smaller groups.I think this would be a lovely book to share out loud with children aged 3 -5 and is a brilliant introduction into the world of adventure that opening a book can bring. It also has the touching message to not give up on your dreams that could be followed up on in a PHSE lesson. This is a fabulous book with great illustrations, which will inspire all to love books. This dog just simply loves books. He loves book so much that he opens a bookshop. But in the beginning he does not get the right customers. While waiting for his customers, Dog reads books and while waiting he forgets that he was waiting, he forgets that he was in bookshop and he forgets that he was alone. This book can be read to children to encourage children to love books.
