This is a fun, well written book of a couple of young adults who are marching to their own drums instead of those their parents have prepared for them. Rose Strickland juggles her waitress job at MA's with her college classes and her friends. But her BFF, Axton Greystone, drops off his backpack for her to keep for a day or two, Rose knows something is wrong. When Axton disappears, she know something is very wrong. In her hunt for him, Rose discovers political corruption, illegal gambling and some pretty shady business dealings. Rose's romp through the underworld included her spunky septuagenarian boss - Ma; her best friend, Roxy; Ax's co-workers - Eric and Steve. The plot flows at a rapid pace with lots of humor throughout. The characters, humor, and solid writing made this book for me. Rose is a strong and sometimes snarky main character, and I enjoyed following her through the story. The oddball sidekicks were especially entertaining, from the anime-loving Roxy to the adventurous 80-year-old Ma to the attractive criminal you're not sure you can trust. I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the twist at the end, which I kinda wish had been integrated into the main mystery. But overall, an enjoyable read!

3,8. I liked it a lot but the writing style was a little immature.
