Maybe 2.5 stars. It was hard to emotionally connect with the characters; they're so vapid. But I almost think that's the style of this particular book. It's not so character driven as it is plot driven. I almost never really cared what happened to any of them. Though by the end your heartstrings pull with and against a few of them. The premise is definitely different. Not necessarily bad different; just different. I felt some things were left unexplained and I wanted more details. I wanted more passion or drama from characters. I'm undecided if I'm going to read the next. Not bad for a YA novel.... I found myself craving Poe's diction the entire time though. I love his wordiness and the way his stories scare the crap out of me! I didn't really feel that here.... More disgusted (e.g. Oozing sores) than creeped out. Like I could read this book at night.... I don't think I'd be able to read a Poe short story before bed! Oh, and just one more thing....why the love triangle?! I'm getting so bored and annoyed with this trend in teen fiction!!!
I enjoyed this book but it was very jumpy and strange and I really don't know how I feel about it.
