This book is a bit of a spin off for the Dark Duet Series. You do not need to read the Dark Duet series but it is highly recommended because it is f*ing amazing!!!We meet Kid briefly in the series when he was involved with a group that kidnapped Caleb’s Kitten. I was very curious to how it was going to be for Kid once he was handed over to Felipe.As always, CJ Roberts did not let me down. She delivered yet another captivating tale into the dark world of sex slave trading. The book was addicting from page 1 and I could not put it down until I had devoured every word. I did not expect that ending but was so wonderfully surprised and happy with it. I loved the characters. We learn more about Felipe and Celia and I loved it. Great book!It is a dark read. If you are not comfortable with that type of material, this book is not for you. If M/M sexual situations bother you, then refrain from buying this book. If neither of those bother you, then 1-click immediately! Determined to Obey was a nice addition to the Dark Duet Series, which is my number one go to re-read when I am in a book slump. CJ Roberts poured so much into Caleb and Livvie, I couldn't not see what was up with Kid, Celia and Felipe. To fully appreciate this book, it is best to read the Dark Duet first. If you are familiar with the story, Kid was first seen in the house with the bikers that had Livvie. Instead of hurting her, he actually helped her, but Caleb did't care about that at the moment. Kid was taken along with his girlfriend Nancy to the mansion of Felipe, a business associate of Caleb.At the mansion Kid wasn't sure if he was going to live or die and at one point didn't even care. He isn't at a good place in his life and with no real family left, he longs to fit in somewhere. Celia and Felipe have a strange relationship and in this book we learn just how strange it really is.CJ Roberts amps up the kink in this little novella, enough to make me want to read the Dark Duet yet again due to the glimpses of Caleb and Livvie. Celia and Felipe are a different kind of crazy and you just hope the fragile psyche of Kid's can handle them.Because I am a huge fan of CJ Roberts as well as Caleb and Livvie, this book was a must read. If you aren't a fan of the Dark Duet or don't know what it is and want a quick, kinky read......this is the book for you!
