About book Dessine-Moi Un Parisien (2010)

Light reading which might not be suitable for everyone, since the author is being funny, but is also outlining how Parisians live, think, act... The format of the book is quite interesting, since it is not a story, but a series of "volumes" -if I may name them as such- that talk about one sole subject. I would, however, take some of the subjects out, since it may become a bit tiring. I laughed out loud with some, others made me understand my fellow Parisians, and yes, others I didn't enjoy as much; probably because I couldn't identify with them. I truly enjoyed every moment of reading Stuff Parisians Like. I went online to check out a few interviews with Mr. Magny, to get more of a feel for who he is and this added the correct flavor to his writing. Mr. Magny also has his own website, so check them out. He is a very likeable guy with an excellent command of English and strong sense of self where he can poke fun at being a born and bred Parisian. Or at least he presents himself this way! Ha! There's an all around playfulness that I got a kick out of. I can appreciate a successful and good-looking guy who doesn't take himself seriously. The topics he addresses are fresh and original, though on occassion he was a little repetitive. For instance, the constant articles about travel and going to certain countries that Parisians like to frequent got to be a bit much. He did an article on New York, Thailand, Barcelona and Belgium, yet the topics of travel to these places and the natives is revisted in various places throughout the book. All in all, I will take advantage of his shameless plug of his business and attend a wine tasting. I believe it will be as much fun as reading this delightful book.
