Book review of Left to Die By Lisa JacksonI received this book as a giveaway from Goodreads. I had not read any of the authors previous books and didn’t know what to expect. The opening pages were very powerful and really grabbed my attention. The story began strongly and continued to hold my interest as the plot developed.The book begins with the description of a callous murder of a young woman. The story continues as the body is found and two female detectives Selena Alvarez and Regan Pescoli are working to try and solve the crime. It soon becomes apparent that this is more than a murder as more bodies are found all killed in the same manner. A serial killer is operating in the area of Grizzly Falls, a small town surrounded by mountains which hasn’t had a murder for years. As the body count rises and each body is found with a note it becomes clear that the killer is following some elaborate plan. The book is well written, the descriptive passages are clear but not too long. They bring the town and its inhabitants to life without getting in the way of the story. The characters are well rounded and easy to identify with. If you enjoy a story with twists and turns you will like this book. The only thing I didn’t like about the book was that it ends with a cliff-hanger. I didn’t realize when I read it that it was the first book of two. Having said that, when I finished it, I immediately bought the second book to find out what happened next. So my advice would be to buy both books if you don’t want to be left wondering. En effet, il les laisse mourir nues attachées à un arbre. or, avec les tempêtes et la neige, il est très difficile pour nos deux enquêtrices d'avancer dans leur enquêtes.D'autant que le tueur ne laisse rien au hasard et semble très méticuleux.L'histoire nous est raconté selon l'alternance de trois point de vue : celui de la police avec nos deux héroïnes, celui du tueur (sans pour autant qu'on ait plus d'information que la police) et enfin les victimes.Les deux héroïnes sont dépeint de façon très réaliste avec leur défaut et leurs problèmes personnels. De même, l'enquête est menée avec réalisme alternant, piétinement, beaucoup de suppositions, faibles progrès...En outre, l'auteure prend plaisir à malmener son lecteur avec de fausses pistes : ainsi, un méchant peut s’avérer être un gentil et inversement !Ce tome s'arrête sur un cliffangher et il faudra donc poursuivre sa lecture avec le tome 2 : piège de neige pour savoir ce qu'il va arriver à Regan que l'on abandonne en très mauvaise posture à la fin de ce tome !
