I liked this book a lot. Probably for the same reason many people don't. It goes to great lengths to develop the characters. Even some of the less important side characters. What struck me as fairly unique was the authors treatment of the villains. It is way to common these days to give the villians some redeeming quality. Especially when the writer develops characters with any depth at all. Who hasn't found something to like in Freddie Kruger, if only his one liners? Katzenbaugh has turned a mean trick in this book. He takes 2 people that you don't like from the start and gives them life and depth. The trick is that the more you get to know them through the coarse of the book the more despicable and loathsome they become. The only pleasure they get is from the misery and manipulation of their victims. There is not a scrap of decency or compassion in the 2 soulless beings. It is seldom I read a book of this length and don't identify in some small way with the bad guys. So I tip my hat to the author for creating 2 villians that make Natural Born Killers look like life coaches.
Do You like book Der Professor (2010)?
Good but strong subject matter and the story was a little drawn out.
