I almost didn’t buy this book: it was in a buy one get one half price and I almost changed it for another, yet I’m glad I didn’t. It is safe to say that I have found myself another series that I am going to be working my way through, keeping my eyes opened for new books.Having recently rekindled my love for crime books I can honestly say that this is one of my recent favourite reads. I found myself working through the book exceptionally quickly, telling myself to put it down and work on other things that need to be done. However, it grabbed hold of me from the very start and I found myself unwilling – unable – to put it down for any period of time. From the very first page we’re thrown headfirst into the story, the action starting instantly. With a killer on the loose who was believed to be dead, Robert Hunter is soon on the lookout for any clues at all as to whether they have a copycat on their hands or whether they’d gotten the wrong man last time. Filled with interesting, realistic characters, you quickly come to love them all: rooting for the best outcome. Perfectly paced, filled with twists and turns I highly recommend it to any crime fan. I now have a new favourite author. Given the author's employment history, there is a very much more 'real' feel to this story than your average serial killer fiction, based on forensic psychologists and pyschiatrists I've spent time with. The 'gallows humour' seems less forced; the exchange of relevant information more detailed. It may be a little dark for some tastes, but darkly real. Fabulous. I want more.....
