This is book 4 in Jessica Andersen's series about the Mayan prophecy on the 2012 end-date. This book focuses on the two misfits in the group (Lucas and Jade) and how they develop their powers.I do like this series, it is unique. However, I should probably take a break from these books for a while as the lore is quite heavy and for half the book I have no idea on what is actually happening. For example, in this book they had to play a ball game in "hell" in order to free the sun god. WTF? My head hurts......I don't recommend reading these books back to back. A break is necessary, with reading brain candy in between. The romance in these books plays second fiddle to the detailed lore and action and I guess that is why I do keep reading. It is unique in the genre. I just may take a break before I read book 5 though as I am pretty sure the world was saved last year so no need to rush to find out the ending :-P Jessica Andersen has done it again! Demonkeepers is an emotional metamorphosis where the characters, once cocooned, develop into beautiful iridescent butterflies. The fourth book in her Novels of the Final Prophecy series is a fun, exciting, sexy, action-packed read that sucks you into the world of the Nightkeepers. If this book is your first introduction to the series, never fear, because this read will leave you wanting more. Though it's part of a series, you, the fledgling Nightkeeper lover, will not be left wanting. It references the first three books and gives tantalizing clues of what came before this moment, but it does not spoil them.Lucius and Jade's journey was phenomenal. They went through changes in each book from tentative and somewhat introverted learners who were eager to please into strong and confident individuals who are comfortable in their own skin. You, the reader, will feel every emotion, try to make every decision, take every breath the characters take, face all the obstacles, and sit on the edge of your seat. When reading this book, the "now" falls away and you forget you are just a reader. You become a living, breathing character in this wonderful new world created by Andersen.I LOVED Demonkeepers! It is the best book in the series so far, but then again each of the previous books held that same title for me. It just gets better and better with each book. Once you read one of the Novels of the Final Prophecy, you will thirst for more. The journey begins with Nightkeepers, followed by Dawnkeepers, then Skykeepers. Jessica Andersen is a phenomenal weaver of tales so powerful and real. Her characters come alive on the page. The Nightkeepers and their winikin are a wonderful group of characters and I am very excited to be on their journey of discovery and ultimately, their triumph. This could very well be my favorite of the series so far :)
