About book Delilah Dirk Et Le Lieutenant Turc (2011)

An excellent and fast-paced read that takes you along with Erdemoglu Selim, a Turkish Lieutenant, as the daring Delilah Dirk turns his world upside down. Once a favored bodyguard of the Emperor, Selim is accused of treachery and sentence to death for believing Delilah's seemingly far-fetched stories. After escaping town and ending up on Delilah's flying boat, the duo embark on a series of riotous adventures and not-so-honest shenanigans. I enjoyed the characters and artwork greatly, and find a roguish female character set with a hopelessly lawful male counterpart to be refreshing. Definitely recommended. "Delilah Dirk and the Turkish Lieutenant" by Tony Cliff was a fun and enjoyable graphic novel. The artwork was colorfully breathtaking and makes me want to visit Turkey. The book tells the story of a rebellious girl of royalty breaking the chains of fashion and fancy to do good and rid the world of bad guys. Along the way she meets a gentlemen unaccustomed to craziness and adventure, but man can he make a cup of tea. Together, they try to do good and escape the clutches of the evil villain. The beginning is rich and full of humor and intelligent writing; however, the middle of the story is mostly composed of action with very little depth and detail, which is why I gave it three stars instead of four. Had the middle carried on the greatness of the start, I could have easily seen this being a stellar graphic story for me as the end was quite fantastic and leads into future stories. I recommend this novel to those looking for a fun and intelligent action story with a different type of hero/protagonist.
