This was such a fun book! My favorite section was chapters 2-3. I laughed SO hard! I enjoyed the great plot. The villains were really bad without being too graphic for my taste, and the hero & heroine were so fun to "watch" as they went through a number of tough scenarios. I also enjoyed reading about the secondary characters. Everything came together so comically and ironically! I even loved the cover. Every time I saw it sitting on my side-table I got so excited to read!Romantic content: There was quite a bit of kissing and a brief reference to the marriage bed. Liked the story*...just not that it contained yet another instance** of anachronistic naming in having a main character named Shannon. I have an interest in the history of names, so ahistorical names tend to stand out to me. The character would have been born around 1860, but this name does not fit the naming trends of that time (and "Shannon" wasn't used in significant numbers until the 1930s). This would have been a very unusual name back then, but there is no comment on it (even though there is comment on the main male character's brothers' names) or explanation for it (for instance, her character doesn't seem to have any Irish ancestry or other connection to Ireland to explain the name). I can't imagine her rich, upper-class, hoity-toity mother approving of a name so closely associated with Ireland at a time so shortly after the mass immigration of (poor and therefore lower-class) Irish due to the Irish Potato Famine, either.*And the rating reflects my liking of the story, not my peeve with the name.**I am referring to more than one author here; it's actually fairly common to come across anachronistic names in historical novels.
