The story itself had potential but i didn't like the two main protagansts. I don't mind a character with some flaws and baggage but Jackie is so completely messed up she is not even functional and in real life would not be able to function as an FBI agent. This also makes her hard to relate to. Also she is selfish, self centred and unlikeable. I just plain didn't care what happened to her or whether she survived or not. And Nick came across as kind of pathetic, weak and wishy washy. He has this great enenmy that he is determined to stop by - sitting around ringing his hands and preventing anyone else from looking into it?? Laurel and Shelby were better characters and certainly more likeable but unfortunately this wasn't their story. Not only is the main character somewhat unlikeable, the book is riddled with technical flaws. Phrases used incorrectly, punctuation abused, and so on.One of my biggest complaints is that a top-notch FBI detective didn't know her partner was a lesbian, and crushing on her, and everyone else in the office did. And they'd been partners for years. It was so unbelievable for an intelligent detective that it ruined any empathy I had for Jackie.The plot has so much potential that I'm especially disappointed in how it turned out.Not worth your time.
