About book Deadly (2011)

"Deadly" by Julie Chibbaro was a great book! I did not know too much about "Typhoid Mary." The author did a wonderful job at placing the reader into 1906! The concerns and unknowns about disease, the fears by the public, the sensationalism by the media (yes, even BACK then!), the personal life of a younger person during that time, is incredibly included in this book. Great job, Julie Chibbaro! Fascinating early 20th century New York City setting? Scientific focus? Exploration of little-known history? Gory details of infectious disease? Strong main character challenging restrictive gender roles? This book had it all. I wish I'd liked it more than I did.I don't feel it benefits much from its diary style format or its melodramatic storytelling style. However, the concept and the scientific illustrations are both intriguing. I will definitely recommend this book to students with an interest in science and history.

Do You like book Deadly (2011)?

It was a very enlightening book. I wasn't very fond of the book's ending, too much of a cliff hanger
