Оказывается я эту книгу ещё не читал, она сравнительно новая.И вполне неплохая.Правда Суэггер тут почти не проявляет себя. Да и снайперского экшна нету.Поэтому я бы дал этой книге на балл меньше, чем предыдущим.Но в целом прочиталось легко и увлекательно. This was one of Stephen Hunter's best books. His hero is Bob Lee Swagger who is getting along in the years now. He is in his 60s and is trying to stay away from all things civilization has to offer and to lose himself in the wild reaches of his ranch in Idaho. But of course his friend Nick Memphis, hotshot executive with the FBI, shows up and Bob Lee cannot refuse this next assignment. Bob Lee uses his brains and sniper knowledge to assist the FBI in a very tough task involving the president of the United States and an Afghanistan leader who is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Along comes a fellow named Ray Cruz, who is a young Marine snipper Just like Bob Lee. He is getting in there way of our national interest or so the authorities seem to believe. But like Bob Lee, this Ray Cruz knows better and this all gets involved in a hair raising mystery involving latest technology including Cruise Missiles launched from our secret facility in Nevada. This is a very entertaining and exciting book. This book is our introduction to the new Stephen Hunter hero, Ray Cruz. I rate it a must read especially for all of you Stephen Hunter fans.

Par for the course for Hunter -- silly but rollicking ride with nice mix of action & humor.
