I have read/listened to other legal “thrillers” by Singer, attorney, author, and also a pastor. He is never preachy, but you will know he is a Christian author as he subtly balances the crime drama with his exploration of Christian themes—in this case one being a man’s quest for redemption for past sins. The main character, convicted of point shaving while an SEC star quarterback, gets a second chance in life, but as a new lawyer finds himself in the middle of cases involving insider trading and murder. Singer writes very readable novels that focus on the ins and outs of the legal system, have plots and characters that keep me interested from start to finish, and do not suffer from graphic adult scenes or profanity. I truly enjoyed this book. It had a great storyline with some expected things (good guy gets the job, is tempted by an office romance, crucial person is killed, takes on big case with no experience) and many not so expected things (the guy behind it all was a pretty big surprise right up until the time it was revealed). All the time, this Christian writer remained true to his values and didn't muddy the waters with torrid sex scenes and gratuitous violence. Great job Randy, it's a winner!
