About book De Jongen, De Viool En De Meester (2013)

Oh dear god, have I lost my taste for fiction entirely? What's wrong with me? Why have the last 3 books I've read left me going "yeah, but..." and fussing about predictability and obviousness and stuff instead of being properly awed by the very fact anyone actually wrote an entire novel?Well, that's all rhetorical. I guess. The book is okay. Predictable, full of set pieces.I'm glad, however, the author has a nice cat in her house. That helps. But no cats were harmed in the making of this book, even if it is about a beautiful violin. This book got better as it progressed. At first I was a bit irritated by th writing style with too many physical descriptions of each new character and rather clumsily inserted explanations of the two famous violin makers whose violins feature in this book (although this latter information was very interesting). But then I became engrossed in the plot and had to read into the night to find out what was going to happen. So not the most well written book but a moving story that made me wish I was more of a fan of classical music than I am. The description of the US troops entering dachau was particularly poignant. Sometimes I think I can't bear to read another book about World War II, but then I do and I'm glad I have because we have to keep reminding ourselves of the atrocities humans can commit, and keep continuing to commit.

Do You like book De Jongen, De Viool En De Meester (2013)?

it was derivative and predictable. It was plotted nicely, though. She kept the story going along.

Historic - definitely. Fiction - maybe not so much. I was hooked from the first paragraph.
