Vi dirò la verità, dopo due anni che corro (letteralmente) avanti e indietro per Venezia pensavo che a leggere questo libro ne avrei ritrovato la vera essenza, non quella città fatta di turisti e studenti che in genere si incotrano adesso, ma quella fatta di vere calli strette e di veri veneziani, di vere gondole e degli abitanti del palazzo ducale. Invece non c'è niente. Ci sono Luciano e il capocuoco Amato Ferrero nella loro cucina che preparano da mangiare per il doge e il resto della compagnia, ma il tutto è continuamente intervallato dalla frenesia di chiunque altro di trovare "il libro". Due cosiddetti così. A un certo momento ho letto perfino una parte eretica a proposito di Gesù Cristo e della resurrezione, pareva Il codice Da Vinci. Due stelle, anche troppo. This was a good romp, and another novel i would have missed, if it wasn't for our book club.I enjoyed being transported back to pre-Renaissance Venice, and even learned some of its history, about groups like the 'Cappe Nere' and the notion that cooks could have been Guardians of wisdom.If you are a foodie, or have foodie friends who need a birthday gift, this is a sure bet. A quote: 'Food has power. Each dish works its own magic, a kind of alchemy that changes bodies and minds.'
Do You like book De Alchemist Van Venetië (2007)?
Liked it a lot until about halfway through. Then just plodded through until the end. Glad it's over.
